Our Story
Escape to Lost Paradise, a secluded eco-camp nestled along the pristine shores of the Albanian Riviera in the Ionian Sea. Gjiri Krorëz where majestic mountains and diverse wildlife create a breathtaking natural retreat. We are committed to sustainable management practices, the camp prioritizes environmental conservation and pollution reduction, offering a space where guests can fully immerse themselves in nature. Here, camping becomes more than just an experience—it’s an opportunity to connect, unwind, and embrace the beauty of togetherness in harmony with the environment.
Lost Paradise was founded on July 3, 2017, with a vision to transform a once-polluted environment into a sanctuary that restores nature to its rightful value. After a long volunteering and challenging journey, underwent a significant transformation two years ago. In July 2023, the camp opening was announced, with 90% of the cleanup completed in this section. One of the most difficult challenges was removing broken glass embedded in the sand. The site you see in these pictures was once a dumping ground for surrounding businesses. Today, this environment has evolved into a retreat that welcomes guests, volunteers, and like-minded individuals from around the world who share a deep appreciation for nature and sustainable living. Our mission to restore and protect this nature continues in other areas. However, despite our ongoing efforts, the absence of state regulatory support has led to a continuous increase in waste. Thankfully, dedicated volunteers have joined us in advancing this cause.
We feel privileged to coexist in harmony with our ecosystem, embracing its diverse wildlife, flora, and marine life.
The plant life in our surroundings includes sage, oregano, mushrooms, olive trees, Celtis australis, figs, grapes, arbutus unedo, pyrus pyraster, and various shrubs, etc, contributing to the rich biodiversity of our region. The animal kingdom here is equally diverse, home to wild boars, foxes, rabbits, gulls, martens, mice, woodpeckers, hawks, crows, owls, bats, and numerous bird species, etc. Additionally, we share this habitat with various reptiles and insects, including hornets, wasps (including Asian species), mosquitoes, several spider species, Arabian scorpions, frogs, Lacerta viridis, vipers, etc. Our underwater ecosystem is just as remarkable, featuring sea turtles that lay eggs in certain seasons, dolphins, starfish, longtail stingray octopuses, sea snakes, jellyfish, sea urchins, shells, mussels, and a variety of fish species, etc. While we take great joy in this extraordinary biodiversity, we are also deeply concerned about the declining number of species and the increasing risk of extinction due to indiscriminate hunting, environmental abuse, and a lack of institutional and individual awareness. The degradation of this delicate ecosystem threatens its long-term survival. To gain a deeper understanding of our local biodiversity, we invite zoologists and botanists to study and document the species present within our ecosystem. Their expertise can provide valuable insights into conservation efforts and sustainable coexistence.
We extend an open invitation to environmental organizations to collaborate and support our mission. At the same time, we urge government institutions to take action, as, unfortunately, they have yet to show interest in this critical initiative.
Lost Paradise Eco Camping is a continuous journey of growth, transformation, and evolution. With the aim of cultivating a thriving and healthy environment, creating a space where both visitors and inhabitants can connect with nature, recharge, share experiences, and truly disconnect from the distractions of modern life.
This is more than just a place—it’s a movement, a retreat, and a sanctuary for the soul.

How to get here
Access to the beach is only possible by boat or hiking. The easiest and most convenient way to reach us is by boat. We recommend taking a daily tourist boat departing between 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM from the Sarandë promenade, at the harbor next to Bar Restaurant Limani. Boat trip durations are subject to marine weather conditions, and on some days, access to Gjiri Krorëz may not be possible due to high waves.
For hiking enthusiasts, there are two scenic trails leading the beach, from Gjiri Kakome, or from Plazhi Lukovë (Shpella).
The hiking paths are marked with red and white signals on rocks and trees. Each trail takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Please note that these are rocky mountain trails, and since nature regenerates over time, you may encounter dense bushes. Proper hiking shoes are essential for a safe and comfortable journey. We recommend the trail from Gjiri Kakome, every time we step on it, we take care of maintenance.
